P.O.P. CULTURE - LEGENDS & LEGACY.

This event is to celebrate the legacy of the innovators of surfing and skateboarding. The infamous Zephyr surfers, Z-Boys, Dogtown, Alva Posse, Bones Brigade and Daggers (below), can all trace their humble beginnings to P.O.P in Southern California. Since the 1970's, the Pacific Ocean Park culture and lifestyle that these legends created, continues to influence the world of surfing, skateboarding, art, fashion, music and culture in general as we know it today.

Exhibit A Gallery wants to take the opportunity to celebrate these legends, them and their fallen brothers, for their contribution to today’s popular culture. Exhibit A Gallery will bring these legends together for an evening to celebrate their achievements amongst family, friends and fans. Participating artists, made up of skaters, surfers, musicians and others, will create art pieces or donate special memorabilia to pay tribute to these legends of the P.O.P. Those to be honored include Tony Alva, Christian Hosoi, Stacy Peralta, Glen E. Friedman, Steve Olson, Jake Brown, Tony Hawk, Jesse Martinez, Dave Duncan and many more.

 

 

Jay Adams once said in a CONTRAST interview,

"Whatever kids are struggling with drugs. Ihope they can turn their lives around. I want to change the way I acted in the past and be amore positive role model for kids,” says Jay. “I want them to learn from my mistakes andhopefully help kids not to follow the same path that I had to go down.”

To help bring Jay Adams hopes to reality and keeping this manifestation of the same sentiment, Exhibit A Gallery will donate all event art proceeds to the Covenant House of California, in Jay's and the rest of the Honorees names. C.H.C. is a non-profit organization that is dedicated to housing the homeless, abused, drug addicted and abandoned youth and providing them with the education, healthcare, and life skills to guide them on the path to success.

Here is where you can help. Due to a lack of the corporate and commercial industry's interest in helping sponsoring this event, and giving these legends the respect and tribute they deserve, we are asking FANS AND FRIENDS to financially participate, to help us make this event happen.

So far we have the support of media sponsors that include LA Weekly, Juice Magazine.

Please donate if you are interested. Everyone that donates $50 or more, will have their name appear on EXHIBIT A GALLERY's personal web and social media sites, and of course are invited to the event.
