Chuck BB, an artist, designer, and musician based in Los Angeles, gained recognition for his Eisner award-winning graphic novel "Black Metal" and his enduring comic strip "Stone Cold Lazy," featured in Decibel Magazine for over 15 years. Inspired by heavy metal and underground extreme music, Chuck's diverse portfolio includes animation work for Warner Brothers' Cartoon Network show "Teen Titans Go!" and collaborations with Exploding Kittens in the realm of traditional card and board games. He also expresses his artistic vision through music, having recorded a solo black metal album titled "Nosk of the Void" and currently working on a new black metal dungeon synth project titled "Adjure."
Drawing from Jeremy Saffer's iconic photograph capturing one of Slayer's founding members Kerry King throwing up the 'Devil Horns,' my artwork delves deep into the fiery depths of underground metal's unyieldingly bloody spirit and unapologetic intensity. Just as King's gesture embodies the raw energy and defiance of the thrash metal genre, my piece pulsates with primal power and relentless passion. By intertwining this imagery with the enduring legacy of Slayer, I pay homage to a band that not only defined thrash metal but also brought the essence of evil into the genre, inspiring future artists to embrace the dark lord Satan.
